My audition at Coldstone

Song of the moment: Pain by Jimmy Eat World

After church this morning, I went downtown to Coldstone Creamery for my audition. Four of the other girls that were auditioning are freshman at UCSC, while the only guy that was there is a junior at Santa Cruz high. The first stage of the group audition was to introduce ourselves, talk about our hobbies, etc. The second thing we had to do was to do something---either dance, sing, or whatever---to "get" the attention of everyone. Two of the girls sang and did a funny interprative dance, another girl did a cheer, i forgot what the other girl did, but the guy sang a song. I sang and danced to a song from Monty Python. It goes a little something like this:

I've got a lovely bunch of cocoanuts, stidilidy
There they are a-standing in a row
Big ones, small ones,
Some that are as big as your head...

I don't know the rest of the lyrics, so I substituted them with this as I hopped my back to my chair:

I don't know the rest of the words
So I'm going to sit down now
Thank you very much my dears, adieu

I got some laughs for being a dork, which is a good thing.

After that, we were required to sing a song. Since part of the job is to sing everytime someone tips, he wanted to see if we were willing to sing in front of strangers. Of course, being a performer, singing in front of people isn't a big deal for me. So I volounteered first. I sang a song from my favorite artist, Ella Fitzgerald, called "A tisket-A tasket". The other girls were intimidated by my strong voice, and refused to follow up after me, so the guy volounteered to sing next.

After the singing part, we were split up into two groups of six, and we were to make up a song about Coldstone and to make up some type of choreography to go along with it. My gropu and I came up with a song that was sung to the tune of "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain When She Comes" and it goes like this:

She'll be coming into Coldstone when she comes
She'll be coming into Coldstone when she comes
She'll be ordering a pint of ice cream
She'll be choosing her own mix-ins
She'll be coming into Coldstone when she comes
(repeat)

Our choreography was basically us acting like a bunch of hillbellies (spelling?) and we just danced with each other as if we were having a hoe-down or something. We got a lot laughs, which again, was very good.

Anywho, I think I did well in the auditions. (I know I was really vague in describing what happened, but I have only two minutes left on the computer.) The owner/interviewer told us that they need two people to start right away (on Friday), and two-four more people to start at the end of December. Since all of the UCSC girls are leaving for Thanksgiving AND Christmas, I think he has no other choice but to hire me and the SCH guy. Hah. How fortunate.
